All of our catering CO2s & N20s are food grade certified from the manufacturer. Other CO2 & N20 products not used within catering are classed as ‘industrial grade’ carbon dioxide & nitrous oxide.

All pressurised gases sold on Ecomeva are restricted to customers over the age of 18 years old.  N2O products are also restricted due to misuse of the product and we rigorously analyse all sales of the product within our supply chain.

CO2 is the chemical composition formula of Carbon Dioxide. Commonly used in catering for carbonating beverages via soda syphons or beer kegs. CO2 is also widely used outside of catering for sports such as inflating bike tyres and in airsoft sports. Carbon Dioxide is also used within aquatic life preservation such as in fish tanks to help regulate the ecosystem with natural CO2.

Cream chargers are small canisters of pressurised gas (nitrous oxide, or N2O). When injected into cream, the N2O reacts with the fats, gelatines and other stabilising agents in the cream to create a foam, resulting in whipped cream. Since N2O exists naturally in our atmosphere, this process occurs when whipping cream manually, but the use of cream chargers makes the process much easier.

1. Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) Chargers (Cream Chargers):

  • Recyclable: Yes, the small metal canisters used for nitrous oxide (often made from steel or aluminum) are recyclable, but they must be emptied of gas before being recycled.
  • Important Considerations:
    • Empty the Canister: Before recycling, ensure the canister is fully discharged. Nitrous oxide canisters that still contain gas may pose a safety hazard when handled in recycling centers. It’s best to release the gas in a well-ventilated area, following proper safety instructions.
    • Check Local Guidelines: Recycling programs for these types of canisters vary depending on the region. Some local programs may accept them as part of their metal recycling stream, while others may require special disposal.
    • Commercial Use: In some cases, businesses that regularly use cream chargers may have special recycling or disposal programs available, especially if they use larger quantities.

Whipped cream will last in a dispenser for anywhere between 3 days to 3 months. If you are using a nitrous oxide charger, it will help to stabilize the cream and prevent it from going bad.

You can store whipped cream in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but after that, it will start to lose its texture and flavor.

If you are not using a nitrous oxide charger, the cream will still last for a few days, but it will not be as stable.

It’s just the rough timeline of how long you can expect your whipped cream to last. In fact, it depends on so many other factors like how you store it, the ingredients you use, and even the temperature of your fridge.
